Cooking Instructions — It’s a Cook Along!

Cooking instructions in English:

Aldi recommends preparing the dish in the frying pan.

In the frying pan: put 1-2 tablespoons of oil in a hot frying pan. Add the frozen contents from the package and make it for about 5 minutes. Then heat for another 7 minutes at medium power.

In the microwave: place the frozen contents of the package with 1 tablespoon of oil in a microwave-safe container with a lid. Heat for 8 minutes at 750 watts, stir well and heat for another 9 minutes. Stir again and let it rest for one minute before serving.

We’re going the frying pan method.

Add the contents of the package, frozen, into the pan & cook for 5 minutes on high.

It’s a bit hard to tell here, but there was an absolute mountain of food when poured out of the bag frozen, I was really surprised!

After 5 minutes on high the meal is mostly defrosted and any remaining liquid is really bubbling, which I tried to capture here, not so successfully in a still photo, and this is why you now need to turn the heat down to medium for the remainder of the cook time — you don’t want anything getting overly dried out and stuck to the pan, but you do definitely want the chicken thoroughly cooked!

Reduce heat to medium and cook for 7 more minute and serve!

After the 7 minutes I went ahead and temped the thickest piece of chicken with our favorite instant meat thermometer and it was actually not quite to a safe temperature for cooked chicken (~165F) so I let this dish continue to warm a bit further.

After a few more minutes it was up to temp and ready to taste test.

Our Review — Worth Buying?

Would we rebuy Aldi’s Asia Green Garden Bami Goreng again? I’d safely place this in the every now and again category.

Overall the dish was good. I enjoyed the fresh corn kernels and they stayed surprisingly crisp. The chicken felt like “real” chicken, if you know what I mean, and was in random sized pieces rather than perfectly manufactured cubes or slices, still we both had the thought that the chicken was so soft that you start questioning things..

But tbh the ingredient list is pretty respectable and it’s very possible that the corn starch/tapioca starch are what kept the chicken so tender.

Pro Tip: Tossing chicken in corn starch can be a real pro tip in the kitchen as it does help to lock the moisture in when cooking.

Rating: 3/4 — It’s good, I would rebuy from time to time
