We have a lofty goal to try every pizza in Lisbon so we can save you money and time, giving you a free FastPass (I guess it’s called Lightening Lane now?) to the best pizza in the city.

It’s going to take some time. But we’re working on it with each Lisbon foodie trip. These are the best spots we’ve tried so far—each one with a full photo review.

These aren’t ranked — they’re just our favorite pizzas in Lisbon so far. This is not just a round up of popular places we read about online. We hit up the Alvalade (Lisbon Neighborhood) location during a busy lunch hour and the quality was on point. An open kitchen, well-executed and modern flavor combinations coupled with one of the best pizza crusts in Lisbon make Lupita a must visit.

For such a highly esteemed pizza restaurant (top 50 in the worlddddd, people!) we found Forno d’Oro to be unpretentious and approachable for regular Joe’s like us. It’s not just hype, the pizzas really are great here!

Best for Pizza w/ Friends • Bairro Alto • Low-gluten sourdough pizza

Artisanal pizza in the lively Bairro Alto Lisbon neighborhood. This isn’t simply a convenient pizza place to stop into while you’re out on the town in Lisboa. It’s not an afterthought stirred by the pangs of hanger.

No, my friend. This is a tourist-friendly, but not touristy traditional sourdough pizza worth scheduling your entire day around.

This is a legit question but I have a potentially unpopular opinion answer. The best places in Lisbon should not be ordered for takeaway. 🤡

As Valdo Gatti readily notes on their website, quality is vastly different when you order a takeaway or delivery pizza in Lisbon compared to dining in.

My advice — save the best pizza places in Lisbon for dining in. They deserve it. You deserve it.

There are plenty of average places that make for a perfect takeaway option. 🙃 Swing a cat, you’ll hit one

Is pizza expensive in Lisbon?

Expensive is always a relative term, but for the quality of pizza you can find in Lisbon, the prices are competitive. In many cases you can eat a better quality pizza for a similar or lower price point than in the Algarve, for example.

A basic Margherita pizza will run you between 10-12 euros, in general. If these are Neapolitan style pizzas they will typically feed 1 person.

Do Lisbon restaurants offer gluten-free pizza?

Definitely. And even more commonly you can find slow fermented sourdough pizza doughs that are very low in gluten for easier digestion.

I realize that low gluten is not an option for Celiacs, but for the general population with digestion concerns or gluten sensitivity this is a good tip to look for in a pizza restaurant.
