After a day in port at Nassau, Bahamas, we enjoyed a food-filled sea day on Celebrity Ascent.
Keep scrolling for delicious cruise food pictures and inspiration for your home cooking too!
Plus get a glimpse into the Captain’s Club Welcome Toast — What is it? Are there free drinks? Is there food? Is there entertainment? Is it worth going?
For now, let’s start with breakfast at Eden Cafe.
Breakfast at Eden Cafe
We decided to visit Eden for breakfast and I was immediately loving the design of this venue.

I thought these chairs were the coolest!

It’s like you’re sitting inside of a chartreuse petunia and I’m all about that. ^.^
Eden Breakfast Menu — Celebrity Ascent
The menu during our cruise included muesli, yogurt parfait with berries and granola, seasonal fruit bowl, bear claw pastry, steel cut oatmeal with almonds, quinoa and honey, banana bread, cold cuts and cheese platter, glazed cinnamon roll, steak and egg bagel, sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, turkey, egg white and spinach panini, and the good start wrap.

Yogurt Parfait with Berries and Granola
Love the sprinkle of fresh blueberries on top. =)

Bear Claw Pastry and Signature Cinnamon Roll

Good Start Wrap
Roasted Vegetables, Potato Rosti, Spinach, Avocado, Roasted Tomato Spread

Steal & Egg Bagel
Toasted with white cheddar, black pepper, and sesame seeds.

Thoughts on Breakfast at Eden
We really loved the environment in this section of the ship and that there are some ‘fresh and healthy’ options on the menu here. We found our sandwiches to be a bit underwhelming.
Lunch at Eden
As we had a late breakfast, the crew was setting up lunch when we were leaving and you can see some of the options like these Pork Belly Sliders.

Tuna Pita and Sandwich of the Day which looked to be a roast beef sandwich.

For a $9-14 upcharge you can also have a premium sandwich:
- Boston Style Lobster Roll
- Prime Rib Sandwich
- Spaniard Bocata

What’s the atmosphere of Eden like on Celebrity Ascent?
Eden is a great spot to relax with panoramic ocean views at the rear (aft) of the ship.

You can enjoy your food at one of these tables near the windows or…

… or you can sit at more traditional tables near where the food is served.

After your breakfast or lunch at Eden Cafe you can relax in some chairs like these …

… or even better ….
THESE!

You can also take a look down at Eden Restaurant, a specialty restaurant (paid) on Celebrity Ascent.

And check out the absolutely stunning Eden Bar which imo is literally a work of art.

On your way out of Eden, stop and appreciate this beautiful art in the hallway

And see if you can find this little cutie:

I love to see little whimsical details like this tiny turtle which add a special touch for those who make it their practice to stop, notice, and appreciate life’s glimmers.
Lunch at Cosmopolitan Restaurant on Ascent
Where possible, we recommend enjoying a lunch and breakfast in the main dining room once per cruise, if you enjoy the main dining room experience, that is.
Cosmopolitan Restaurant Lunch Menu | Celebrity Ascent

Cosmopolitan Restaurant Lunchtime Dessert Menu

Crispy Fried Mushrooms with Spinach-Artichoke Dip

Key West Salad
Greens with Diced Avocado, Orange, and Cucumber Tossed in Key Lime

What a beautiful, bright salad!
Nagasaki Sara Udon
Udon Noodles Wok-Fried with Prawns, Barbecued Pork, and Vegetables

Orange Panna Cotta with Mandarin

Rhubarb Meringue Tarte

Celebrity Ascent Afternoon Tea at Ocean View Cafe (Buffet)
We had heard there was afternoon tea on Ascent on sea days. I don’t mean a paid experience, but a buffet full of scones and tiny cakes!
Here’s what we found:
Raisin Scones

Clotted Cream, Whipped Cream, and Jam

Donuts
We saw sugar cinnamon doughnuts and apple doughnuts

Cookies & Pound Cake
Double chocolate cookies and oatmeal raison cookies were on display.

Cakes
Pretty chocolate cupcakes topped with raspberries and Mimosa cake topped with blackberries.

Chocolate Mousse

Empanadas
And finally another savory option — empanadas.

Pro Tip: The empanadas seemed to go quickly, so if you want to try one grab one as soon as you can, don’t wait to come back around later and hope they’re still there.
Captain’s Club Welcome Toast
On the first sea day of your Celebrity Cruise, you’ll receive an invitation to the Captain’s Club Welcome Toast if you are in a qualifying loyalty tier.

Who gets invited to the Captain’s Club Welcome Toast?
Any guests in Classic, Select, Elite, Elite Plus or Zenith Loyalty Tiers.
Basically anyone who has cruised with Celebrity at least once in the past.
Where is the Captain’s Club Welcome Toast Held?
Venues and times can vary by ship and itinerary but during our cruise it was held at the beautiful Eden Bar area.

Captain’s Club Welcome Toast Drink Menu
Are drinks free at the Captains Club Welcome Toast?
Yes! Select beers, wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary.
What free drinks can you get at Celebrity’s Captain’s Club Welcome Toast?
The menu is limited but offers a range of classic drinks:

Is there food at the Captain’s Club Welcome Toast?
Yes! There were fancy little Hors d’oeuvres, see exhibit A:

Shout out to the slice of prosciutto topped with a cantaloupe melon ball and a mini vial of balsamic.

And this beautiful little shrimp & roe on cucumber appetizer.

I love the precision work on tiny appetizers. Even the shadow on this napkin is artsy.

What can I expect at the Captains Club Welcome Toast Event?
You can expect some crew to chat about the line a bit, thank you for your loyalty, and some entertainment like the live music you can see queued up in the first pic.
You may also see some shouts to the Zenith tier members on board.
Typically crew will be walking around with the appetizers and drinks pre-poured on trays, but you can ask them for what you’d like or ask at the bar.
Of course you can also buy a drink of your choice or use your beverage package if you have it, but let’s be honest most people coming to this are in it for a free cocktail. =p
Dinner at Cosmopolitan Restaurant

Tomato Cucumber Salad with Red Onions and Feta Cheese

Broiled Salmon — Celebrity Classics
with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables

Gyro — Chef’s Daily Recommendation

Potato Wedges
I think these were an accompaniment to another dish and someone in our party asked if they could have just a plate of them on the side.

Crew are often able to accommodate requests like this, so just ask! :]
Warm Apple Crumble a la Mode — Celebrity Ascent Signature Dessert
served with Tahitian vanilla ice cream

Phyllo Dough Tulip — Celebrity Ascent Signature Dessert
Filled with citrus cream topped with assorted fresh fruits

Brownie Sundae

Pretty Bathrooms
And once again I couldn’t help but shout out the beautiful public restrooms which are always conveniently located near the main dining room and ocean view cafe (buffet).
