It’s 2026. You’re wondering, “Do I even need a travel agent to book a cruise?”
Fair question.
Why Transfer My Cruise Reservation To A Travel Agent?
It’s 2026. Most everyone is of the mindset “What’s in it for me?” am I right? And it’s understandable. We’re all being pulled in a thousand directions with limited energy and, for most of us, limited resources.
So why transfer a cruise reservation you already made to travel agent?
3 Reasons To Use a Cruise Travel Agent
1. Personalized Service
A cruise travel agent can offer you personalized service, before and after booking your cruise. Need help narrowing itinerary, deciding if it’s worth it to splurge on the new mega ship or if you really need that balcony? A cruise travel agent can guide you through those decisions so you have the best cruise vacation for you.
2. Upgrade Opportunities
Can a travel agent get you free upgrades and extra perks on your cruise? Sometimes! Sometimes we have access to bonus onboard credit, specialty dining, and the like which are exclusive to our clients – not available through direct bookings with the cruise line.
Some travel agents will even monitor for better promotions after booking and upgrade opportunities. There have been times I could save a client nearly $1,000 on their cruise fare by monitoring promotions for them. On other occasions I could upgrade an inside guarantee cabin to a balcony for my clients – for free!
It doesn’t happen every single time, but it definitely can happen. And allowing a travel agent to care for your cruise booking makes it a possibility for you. 😉
3. Support a Real Person’s Livelihood
It’s 2026. Most people are self absorbed and only care about what they can get for themselves. Sad, but true.
But you know what else is true?
Not everyone is like that. You’re not like that!
Fun Fact: Did you know that cruise fares already have compensation for travel agents built in?
So what does that mean? It means when you don’t use a travel agent, the cruise lines just keep that as extra revenue.
-> Why Some People Choose to Transfer Their Cruise Reservation to a Travel Agent:
Because they are awesome.
Believe it or not, some people transfer their cruise reservation to a travel agent completely selflessly. Not because they needed help – they knew exactly which ship and itinerary they wanted. Not because they cared about some extra onboard credit or a possible upgrade.
They’re just happy to support a small business with the travel dollars they were already going to spend either way.
Isn’t that so cool!?
And hey, it doesn’t hurt that they’ll probably get some extra benefits in the end anyways, does it?! 😉
