Tyrrell’s Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar Crisps Review — Worth Buying?

Tyrrell’s Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar Chips

We love the salty, tangy bite of a salt and vinegar potato chip.

Coupled with the extra crunch that comes from kettle cooked / thick cut chips (or crisps), it’s a perfect snacking combination.

In Portuguese grocery stores salt & vinegar chips are not always so easy to find. At least really good ones.

So when we saw Tyrrell’s hand-cooked English crisps, sea salt and cider vinegar flavor, at Aldi in Portugal we decided to give them a try.

Independent Grocery Review
This is an independent grocery review by Traveling Through Food, based on firsthand experience with the product. We purchase and try products ourselves, and our reviews reflect our honest opinions and whether we would buy them again.

Ingredients

Potatoes, sunflower oil, sea salt, sugar, dried apple cider vinegar, dried spirit vinegar, natural flavouring, dried BARLEY malt vinegar, potato starch, potato maltodextrin, apple juice powder, antioxidant (rosemary extract).

What kind of vinegar do salt and vinegar chips use?

Most commercial salt and vinegar chips use distilled white vinegar or malt vinegar, so Tyrrell’s addition of dried apple cider vinegar adds a lovely, unique touch.

Our Review — Worth Buying?

These are no doubt excellent salt and vinegar chips. Period.

They are a premium chip, so they are likely to run you between 3 and 4 euros for a small bag and that just feels like a lot.

But every once in a while you get that craving for a nice salt and vinegar chip and I think if you splash out on these you’ll look affectionately down at the chip in your hand just like the guy on the bag, and crunch away contently.
