Miami Metromover — Free Transportation
The Miami Metromover is a free transportation in Miami that generally runs from 5am-midnight every day and requires no tickets or passes to use.

These automated people-movers stop at 21 stations around Miami.
Metromover Fifth Street Station

The Fifth Street Station is part of the Brickell Loop.

We were there later at night because it was our last night in Miami and we were trying to conclude an epic food tour that started with a local coffee spot, a visit to Little Havana (Versaille & Azucar) and finally a 10pm slice at Miami Slice!

The platform was basically desolate and we had the car to ourselves.

The miami metromover cars are very simple and designed primarily with standing room aside for a couple seats at either end for accessibility.
I imagine this car gets very packed like sardinhas during the work week, but its fine because you are most likely going just a few stops at a time and hey, it’s free!

I really like the route map and the way it shows the station and which loops stop there (color coded) and then immediately next to it the maps for each of the 3 loops — Omni Loop, Inner Loop, and Brickell Loop.

Miami Slice
So we made it to Miami Slice, a must-visit viral pizza spot in Miami.

Restaurant Location: 1335 NE Miami Ct, Miami, FL 33132
We joined the take-out and terrace line as we just wanted to try literally one slice (we were sooo full from our DIY Miami Food Tour) but we couldn’t leave without trying this spot!

Miami Slice is a no cash establishment, so bring your cards and mobile pay devices.

Inside Miami Slice
An open kitchen lets you feel part of the pizza-making process.

The modern pizza-box lined bookshelf is stylish and somehow cozy, functional decor.

Getting a closer look reveals that Miami Slice won 5th place in the 50 Top Pizza Slice USA in 2024!

A peak at the ovens and peels that are on constant rotation to get you your next Miami slice.

Why not get yourself a pizza peel? ->

Slice of the Day
Here’s what was on during our visit:
Margherita de la Casa, Pepperoni Proper, La Salsera, Leeks on Bacon, Mushroom Truffle

What We Ordered — Margherita de la Casa
Of course we ordered a Margherita pizza.
When our slice was ready we grabbed the branded box and headed outside to the terrace.

First impressions: That’s a lot of basil!

No, but seriously, they are not messing around with their basil garnish! lol

The bottom crust looked very crispy, leaning a bit on the dark side.

One more glamour shot for this box.

And a shout out for their trash / recycling system.

Our Review — Would We Go Back?
Honestly, this one is tough.
Despite loving the overall vibe of the place, we were a bit underwhelmed at this $5.75 slice of Margherita pizza.

The thing we both independently remember most is that it seemed very salty?
We were surprised to not be blown away as this was a spot rated outrageously highly by Dave Portnoy and the One Bite community at large, even labeled as an “instant contender for best pizza in Miami”.
To be fair, we aren’t fluent in the Miami pizza scene yet. But I have a feeling there are other spots that would suit our personal tastes better.
So what do you think?
Should we give Miami Slice another try when we go back to Miami?
Should we have ordered a different slice?
Did we visit on an off day or is Miami Slice overrated?
